Right before we were ready to leave for Ramona this morning we discovered that our drain was backed up. I tried snaking it from the cleanout by the house and didn’t hit any blockage. Then I tried snaking it from the septic tank, and still found no blockage. My snake was 25 foot and the 45 connection between the house and the tank was just over 25 foot from each direction. So I decided to cut the line in that area and I found that a small mass of fine roots had infiltrated at the joint. Problem solved for now. I am going to replace the line now that I have it all dug up. This was the original line from when we bought the aframe. We put a new septic tank and a new line from the addition, but never replaced that original pipe. The old pipe is made of a weird material, probably asbestos.
