We think we’ll call the boy cat (grey) Crixus, and the girl cat (gold) Pele (Hawaiian god of fire).

The smoke from this fire caused a lot of talk in Santa Ysabel Post Office. Dennis was working there this afternoon

IPN indicates the burn is at the Middle Peaks area of the Park.”

New additions to Cielo Grande
We adopted a couple of cute kittens today. They are still a little shy, so hopefully
better pictures tomorrow.
Cabin Life – January 8, 2012
Sunday we worked on framing out the outside shower at the Guesthouse. We also got another coat of varnish on the deck bench and bar.

Cabin Life – January 7, 2012
The weather has been very nice for the last few weeks. No rain, though, which we don’t really like. In the pictures there is an example of Cielo Grande snow that we have now (fallen manzanita blossoms). We got a new mattress topper from Marilyn and Don, plus a new wine opener from Mike. On our walk by Warner Springs today Ginger had a blast rolling in a cow pie. Time for a bath when we got home.

Warner Springs Ranch Closed
After the first of the year the Ranch has been closed. That includes the golf course and gas station. Dennis has heard that the escrow is supposed to close on January 15, but no one has heard anything from the new owners about it. The Security Guard at the gate confirmed this, and wasn’t sure what would happen to all the people who have been working there.

Cabin Life – January 03, 2012
We had two days off together over the weekend and the weather was fantastic. A little windy on Sunday, but Monday was near 80 degrees and calm. After taking a walk with Ginger we did some projects. We set in place a nice pot Dennis got for the rainchain at the Guesthouse. Bob painted the west wall of the Guesthouse. Dennis worked on sanding the wood for the deck bar. We also started on repairing the shower and did some cutting so we had a pile for the Fire Department to look at for our burn permit.
