WILD HORSES IN RAMONA: THE COYOTE CANYON HERITAGE HERD | East County Magazine

The Hayden’s are our neighbors.

January 15, 2013 Ramona–On a warm spring morning in the Upper Borrego Valley in 2003, the last 29 wild horses in East County–were rounded up by helicopters and driven into pens. They were then removed from Coyote Canyon and trucked to a sanctuary in South Dakota through a snow storm with temperatures 4º below zero.

Dennis’ Dad’s 80th

Last weekend we made the trip to Indiana for Dennis’ Dad’s 80th Birthday Party. It was cold back there, but only a flurry of snow on Saturday. Bob enjoyed it and Dennis didn’t seem to mind. Don was happy to see everyone and we had a nice birthday lunch at the Lighthouse Restaurant at Cedar Lake, and then a weekend of football watching.

Outside shower weather

Beautiful 70 degree weather in January, but it’s not suppose to last. Chance of snow tomorrow night.

An Appreciation: Huell Howser, the great adventurer – latimes.com

We always liked watching his show “California Gold“.

See some of his videos on his YouTube channel here.

Bob and Dennis

Huell Howser, a great man of television, died late Sunday in Palm Springs, to which he retired quietly late last year — or as quietly as an interested public would let him, the announcement that he would make no more programs being news throughout the state and prompting tributes and some expressions of concern that now will be multiplied many times over. He was a boyish 67 years old.

One Door Up

The installation video said the doors could be put up in 3 minutes. Took us a couple of hours with only one small mistake we need to fix for the other side. We thought our bad weather was over but we had to deal with cold, hail, freezing rain and slushy snow. We got one door almost finished.
