Amazing views overlooking Fonts Points, rumor has it some directionly challenged person ended up driving down in the canyons below.
Easy Breezy
Kathy said I don’t know what Brenda is talking about, this hike is a breeze. Let’s run up the rest of the way!!! Now its time for French Toast.
Poppies
The poppies are starting to bloom in the valley.
Morning hike
Getting in our first hike of the day, then off to Borrego this afternoon for another hike.
Cabin Life – March 21, 2011
This Sunday we worked on getting the kitchen windows in the Guesthouse trimmed out and also putting in the rainchains. Bob needs to now varnish the wood. He’ll also work on the shelfs for the bookcase, so that will also be getting done.
Big rain Sunday night. Another 1.68 inches of rain. We were doubtful the roadwork below would hold up, but it did and the gravel seems to be working. We shouldn’t get too many more big rains this year. This Saturday, Kathy and Kate come for a week visit.

Culp Valley to Hellhole Canyon Parking
Today we finally made the hike down into Borrego from Culp Valley to Hellhole Canyon. It’s about 5.5 miles and took about 3 hours. The elevation drop is 2,675 feet. It was a nice day for it, with a cool breeze on top. But once we got to the desert floor the temperature was 85 degrees. Pretty nice for March. We are supposed to get rain and drizzle for the weekend.
Click to go to Picassa Web Albums to get a full screen slideshow. It’s worth it for some of the shots. It was a very nice hike.
Cabin Life – March 14, 2011
Jim and Louise came down for the weekend. The kitchen cabinets had come in and that was our project for their visit. We had spectacular weather, with the wilflowers starting to bloom. Mike and Matt were working on the road since Tuesday and all the ditches were filled in and gravel put on the slippery spots. It’s starting to look very nice.
We made some good homemade meals most the weekend, but Sunday night Louise and Jim took us out to the County Line BBQ, which was their first visit there. The ribs were great as usual!

Toast
First drink in the new kitchen.
Kitchen Progress
We got all the cabinets installed, along with hillbilly plywood countertops. Nothing but the finest for our guests.
Road Work
Heavy drizzle today. No work on the road. There is a tractor down by the highway, but we arn’t sure it’s for Nicki.
