Rock and Roll Marathon

Balboa Park closed down for Marathon. Only way for Bob to get to work this morning was to park across the street from the Zoo, grab his coffee and banana bread, and join in the race in order to cross the street. Lots of runners urinating in the bushes. Quite a hassle! But he made it to work.

Happy Memorial Day!

We went for a nice hike this morning at Warner Springs, and had breakfast at the golf grill. We finished framing out the shower this afternoon. Now it time for Pasta and fresh artichokes from the garden, and maybe a glass of wine.

Memorial Day 2011

We took a hike this morning in Warner Springs to Agua Caliente creek. That’s the creek near the old Mission chapel. Afterwords brunch at the Golf Course. Then we came home and worked on the outside shower at the Guesthouse. We also got the last piece of facia board on and the last piece of decking. Now we need the cables for the railing. Next week Bob works “Mamma Mia” in town.

Fire Station in Warner Springs Progress

They keep working on new Fire Station in Warner Springs. It’s getting to that time of year when we may need it. The trucks and crew are still in the area, so no worries it’s not finished yet. I took this pictures last week on the walk with Ginger.

Cabin Life – May 27, 2011

We are really missing Don and Marilyn after their nice visit to the Cabin. The weather kept going from good to drizzle while they were here, but we had some good times. Marilyn took some good pictures which she has posted on Facebook. If you haven’t seen them yet, here are some of our favorites.

Cash Registers Singing over the End of the World

It is sad that people’s insecurities are taken advantage of so often. I’m sure it will happen again.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Judgment Day is fabulous for business.

Just ask Family Radio, the evangelical nonprofit that has plastered billboards and driven vans across the San Francisco Bay Area and the world proclaiming the end of the world will be today.

The Oakland-based nonprofit has raised more than $100 million over the past seven years, according to tax returns. It owns 66 radio stations across the globe and was worth more than $72 million in 2009.

Lakeview May 20, 2011

The Lake looks very full after this years rainy season. But it’s only 39% full. That’s still more water in it than we’ve seen since we’ve been here.

Cabin Life – May 18, 2011

Don and Marilyn are visiting and it’s been nice, but the weather hasn’t been so good for them. We’ve had 3 storms this week with over an inch of rain, which is unusual for May. Still in between the rain there have been nice days. We got some new items for the Guesthouse. Also with all the rain we’ve had this year the lake is getting fuller. It’s about half full now, which is the highest we’ve seen since we’ve been here.
