Hiking Dripping Springs Trail

Near Temecula is Agua Tibia Wilderness and Dripping Springs Campground.  On our way to Home Depot this morning, we took Ginger for a hike about a mile up the trail.  It was very nice and a good start to the day.

At the end of the campground

Louise Hay and Cielogrande

Last weekend we attended a celebration of the life of Louise Hay (October 8, 1926 – August 30, 2017) on what would have been her 91st birthday.  Dennis worked for Louise for many years until we moved full time to Cielogrande.  She only visited once early on, but her blessing is appreciated everyday on the Mountain.  Safe travels to her.  From the invitation to her celebration:

“ I handle my own life with joy and ease.

— Louise Hay

Today would have been Louise Hay’s 91st birthday. Tonight, about 250 of us will gather to have one last party for her, just as she requested. Louise did not want a funeral or memorial service, just a celebration of life. Louise loved a good party!

Becoming A Successful Author Masterclass

Louise wanted to be cremated but did not state what to do with her ashes, so it was up to me to decide what we should do with them. I thought back to the early days when Lulu worked with people with aids. Louise started helping people with aids from her living room and eventually hosted a support group every week with a 1,000+ people at a park in West Hollywood. This was at a time when there were no movie stars helping the gay community and the President wouldn’t even say the word aids. Everyone was afraid and didn’t know what to do, so Lulu stepped in to help and change people’s thinking about the dis-ease. She said “We aren’t going to sit around and say ain’t it awful, we are going to take a positive approach to life.”

When I think back to this time and tell this story I can’t help but feel very emotional. I always have to hold the tears back when I am on stage, thinking back to Louise’s amazing heart and spirit during that time. There were so many people we all knew and loved who passed away during that period. Every time one of the “boys” as Louise called them, would leave us, she would plant a tree in their honor so they would be with us forever.

So tonight at Lulu’s celebration party I am going to be offering all of the attendees a packet with some of Louise’s ashes. There will be people at the party from all over North America and the UK. I will also be sending some ashes to our Australian and Indian offices. My hope is that they take them home and plant a tree, sprinkling the ashes around the base, as they do so. In this way, Louise will be spread around the world that she helped so much. If you want to plant a tree in Louise’s honor as well, that would be amazing!

I also want to thank the amazing Hay House community for all the support I have received during this difficult time. I can feel your LOVE every day.

Wishing you the best,
