Cabin Life – February 09 , 2013

Prediction of a big storm turned out to be a bust. We did get some snow showers, but just a dusting Saturday morning. Total rainfall was a little lest than 0.5 inch. On Friday we took Ginger to the snow in Julian and had lunch at the Grille, then a piece of pie with caramel sauce. Last week we saw a rafter of about 30 turkeys down below.

On Saturday we had good weather for our last burn of cut brush. We need to cut some more.

We’ll see how much we get.  Only 0.1″ of rain do far.

Warner Springs Auction to end March 6

DSC03881

A letter was received by the Warner Springs Post Office indicating that the Auction for the sale of Warner Springs Ranch will end on March 6. It seems that the high bidder will get the sale. Even though the auction is not public it seems that the parties bidding know what the bids are and can put in higher bids during the auction time.

Game Day Projects

Was able to get another burn area done today. It was a little too warm for burning today, much better to do on a cool rainy day. I also finally got the retaining wall installed by the tractor barn. Now it’s time for the big Superbowl Party!!!

Cowboy Chili

Starting a Cowboy Chili from our recipe page for Dennis’ Superbowl party.  I have to work an Opera.  I’m for SF, but Dennis is for Baltimore because the are more Gay friendly and they have male cheerleaders.

[Updated] Man, 83, Dies After Highway 78 Accident Near Santa Ysabel – Ramona, CA Patch

78

I had to go Black Canyon to Ramona. That’s the dirt road through Mesa Grande. It took over an hour and was like the old days having to wait for cars to pass at narrow parts. A lot of people were doing it. On my way home last night they were replacing the power poles.

An 83-year-old man died Thurday after the 2005 Dodge Magnum he was driving veered off the road near Santa Ysabel and overturned, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Brian Pennings.
