NORTH COUNTY — Joel Mendenhall, 30, a cattle rancher whose family’s roots in the Palomar Mountain area go back to the mid-1800s, was killed Monday in a heavy-equipment accident at a Mesa Grande ranch.

Orrin Winery
A couple weekends ago we stopped for a tasting at Orrin Winery in Sunshine Summit on the way to Temecula. They are only open on the weekends and Dennis had wanted to try them out. The wine was very good. It is the son of the owners that is the winemaker and he studied at Davis in Northern California. It sounds like he also worked for a little while with Alex at Shadow Mountain.
