Cabin Life – December 18, 2010

Last week we had notice the power was supposed to be shut off for most the day on Tuesday. The notice said it had something to do with new power poles for the transmission line. Then, Monday night we got a call that the outage would only be for a few hours. On our walk Tuesday, Bob and Ginger saw some power trucks down by the road. Turns out they were coming to our property to change the transformer. The job took about an hour, but when they tried to hook the new one up to test it, no power! The power was off because one of the new power poles down by the highway also as a support for the distribution power lines to the houses in our area. By the time Dennis got home at 4 pm., our transformer was working.

Thursday was the start of a soggy week of weather for us. They call it the Pineapple Express. So far not that much rain, but Sunday and Wednesday next week are supposed to bring more. Nothing like when Don and Brenda were here last January.

  1. It’s nice to know they are looking out for you up there on the mountain top! Can’t wait to make another trip down south to see you both. Have yourselves a merry little Christmas and know we will be looking forward to your visit in January. Talk to you next week. Love to you both, Mom

  2. Hi, I am glad they got the new transformer working for you. They sure did have a big crew to do it. The view of the lake is beautiful and I miss it . Would rather be there than in this cold and snow. And winter hasn’t even started yet. Oh well thats the midwest. Love you both, Mom and Dad
